Stopped on a Thursday evening for dinner, their setup is different, but makes sense for the current state of staffing issues, you order as you enter, pay, and food is brought to your seat. The tacos each had 3 large shrimps on them and the fish fry dinner was exceptionally well seasoned. The French fry slices were different but delicious. Would highly recommend.
Came on a Monday night and was worried if it would have the 3.5 hour wait we were quoted at another 5 Star restaurant over on Lake Michigan, but we were immediately able to order and be seated at a beautiful outdoor table. I ordered the tenderloin and my friend ordered the ribeye - both came with mashed potatoes…for a starter I had a grilled romaine which was savory with bacon, onion, and balsamic. Our entrees were all cooked to perfection, and my guest and I both remarked it was probably the best asparagus we had for a while. For dessert we had the berry marscapone cake and it melted in your mouth! Although different from a service standpoint (order upon entry) if I get the quality we got at the amazing speed we got, I can get through not having standard table service. Even without an assigned waiter/waitress we were attentively tended to and the owner even stopped by to check in on us - a nice touch. Definitely will be back!
My husband and I are from out of town. Several locals had recommended Skaliwags, and now we understand why. Wow! The service was top notch. Chef Chris and his family have created some ridiculously good plates. We had the grilled romaine salad to start, which was huge and bursting with flavor. Then the Jesus burger and bbq burger - we both said they were the best burgers we’ve ever had. Fries were even cut uniquely and stood out! If you like outstanding service and food, don’t miss this gem!
Lunch dine-in, we had a very nice experience. I was originally going to give 4 stars mainly on price but I am pushing to 5 stars for the following reasons. The food was exceptional. Quality ingredients, obviously fresh. Great fish, great bread on sandwiches. The chef brings a nice balance of seasoning with acidity to balance out richness in the food. Very attentive staff. I did enjoy sustainable materials. More outdoor seating would be nice. Open roof earlier? Although cost was on the higher end, I would go back. It costs more to get quality and I think customers need to remind themselves of that. This place was definitely quality.
Stopped in for lunch and was amazed. The food here in phenomenal! Hands down the best carnitas tacos I've ever tasted. The service was great and the chef even came out to thank us for our compliments on the meal!
Don’t pass this up. Great place. Food is excellent. Grilled romaine salad was great and the oyster poor boy was outstanding! Great staff! Loved it! But sadly the poor boy looked too good to stop for a pic. Lol
This is an order first and then sit restaurant. The staff was very friendly. I got the she-crab soup which was finished with cinnamon and although it sounds weird, it was so incredibly delicious. I had a burger which was great and the asparagus was fresh and fantastic. My husband had the pulled pork and it was not what he expected since it had no bbq sauce and it was on a pita. He said it was bland. There is a selection of beers and wines and there is outdoor seeing. I will have to return for the soup.
